White County Community Hospital’s Radiology Department uses medical radiation and diagnostic imaging techniques in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. The Department works with the most advanced technology available allowing the early diagnosis of many diseases and disorders without surgical procedures.
Medical Imaging
Medical Imaging is process used to create images of the human body (or parts and function thereof) for clinical purposes. At White County Community Hospital, for example, medical imaging encompasses x-ray, CT, MRI, Ultrasound and nuclear medicine. These images are used by physicians to diagnose, treat and prevent illnesses or injuries.
CT Scan
The Hi Speed CT technology allows for 3D image reconstruction which reduces radiation exposure, exam time and provides improved imaging capabilities.
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
MRI is a painless alternative to X-rays. With a large magnet, radiowaves and a computer, your body is scanned to provide very detailed pictures of areas that cannot be viewed on conventional X-rays. MRI exams make it possible for physicians to examine certain types of tissue and obtain important information that will help them in the diagnosis of disease, bone and joint abnormalities and a multitude of other possibilities.
Mammography
Mammograms are low energy X-rays of the breast that are used to screen apparently normal breasts for cancer. Early detection of breast cancer is known to save lives. Yearly mammograms are recommended for women 40 and over, though screening schedules should be determined by your physician.
Ultrasound
Our Imaging Services offers a full range of ultrasound services that includes cardiac, obstetrical and gynecologic, vascular, abdominal and breast imaging.
